Dr. Zhao Qishan is an accomplished intellectual property professional with extensive knowledge in the field of telecommunication. Her accomplishments and experience are truly multi-dimensional, spanning private practice to academics to policy development. The addition of Dr. Zhao to our team will strengthen LexField’s patent litigation effectiveness in the field of telecommunication and will raise the capabilities of the Firm to a new level.
Prior to joining LexField, Dr. Zhao was the Director of Intellectual Property Policy at ZTE Corporation, the world's leading telecommunication solutions provider, and will bring her expertise to handle evolving legal issues surrounding Standard-Essential Patents (“SEPs”), anti-monopoly law related to intellectual property rights, and open source software. She will be a tremendous asset and a strong advocate for our clients to participate in legislation and policy formulation and revision in the field of patent and anti-monopoly laws, especially in the field of SEPs. As a respected authority on this subject, Dr. Zhao has published many academic works in the field of intellectual property. In addition, she has participated in a good number of National Social Science Fund projects, National Intellectual Property Strategy projects, and the National Social Science Research Programs of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.
In recent years, litigation on patent infringement in the field of mobile telecommunication has been on the rise. LexField’s litigation group has an excellent track record where it has successfully represented major players in the mobile telecommunication space, including:
• Nokia against Apple for the China part of a global series of infringement litigations.
• Huawei (002502.SZ) against Samsung for infringement which resulted in a landmark judgment in SEPs.
• Immersion Corporation (NASDAQ: IMMR) against Apple and Samsung for a series of infringement disputes.
• Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) against Apple in over 20 separate cases for infringement. On November 30, 2018, Lexfield obtained an interim injunction from the Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court against the sale of 7 models of iPhones.
Dr. Zhao Qishan received her Doctoral Degree in intellectual property from Peking University Law School and was engaged in postdoctoral research on intellectual property at the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. To prepare the next generation of legal thinkers, Dr. Zhao served as a lecturer at Shanghai University Law School.
